This wall mounted table system was developed for a fashion design studio’s kitchen. After having built several models inspired from the “Autoprogettazione” furniture series by the legendary Enzo Mari, I was interested in creating a design that uses cantilever and truss engineeringing. I combined this with notions from designing clothing such as pleating and folding in repetition to create volume and shapes. The end design uses a simple repeated cantilever truss using very fine wood pieces. It gains its strength from these numerous elements. The table tops are simply translucent acrylic material, like a fine cloth, to further reveal the filgrain structure below them, and to create a feeling of emphemerality.
